Chemical Receiving

Centralized Chemical Receiving is managed by EHSS. All hazardous chemicals are delivered to Chemical Receiving (032 Lyman Hall), opened and barcoded by staff, and delivered to the appropriate lab space.

Chemical Receiving staff does not open any chemical containers, only the shipping box, and overpacks, if applicable. Chemical information (name, manufacturer, amount, barcode number) is added to the PI’s inventory in the chemical management system, BioRAFT prior to delivery.

Hazardous chemicals are delivered same day and can be held at the appropriate temperature if coordinated with EHSS in advance.

Other supplies such as disposable items, biologicals, equipment, non-hazardous materials can be delivered directly to the department main office or mail room.
