EHSS’ laser safety program and services are in place to help support the safe use of lasers at Syracuse University and compliance with NYS Department of Labor regulations (12 NYCRR Part 50) and associated standards and best practices.
All Class 3B and 4 lasers must be register with EHSS prior to procurement and use. All activities involving lasers and laser systems must comply with applicable regulations and standards, and be conducted in a manner that protects personnel, students, visitors, and property from harmful exposures to laser radiation. Class 3B and 4 laser users must complete EHSS’ laser safety training.
