Chemical Receiving Q&A

The current plan is to commence centralized chemical receiving in July 2021.  More specific information on the start date and plans for chemical receiving will be shared as they are finalized.

The plan is to establish a Chemical Chemical Receiving (CCR) area where laboratory chemicals will be delivered to prior to being distributed out to the laboratories.  The CCR will be located in Lyman Hall and managed by Environmental Health and Safety Services staff.  EHSS staff will receive laboratory chemical deliveries at the CCR area, barcode the chemical containers received, enter the information into the chemical inventory tracking system, and then provide same day delivery of the chemicals to the labs.

No, lab supplies, biologicals and other non-chemical materials and items will continue to be delivered directly to the laboratories and/or departments.  Only laboratory chemicals will be delivered to the chemical receiving area.
