The Syracuse University Respiratory Protection Program has been established for the protection of University personnel from respiratory hazards. The program is designed to meet the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) respiratory standard, an includes procedures for respiratory hazard evaluations, proper respirator use, training, medical evaluations, respirator selection, and respirator fit testing.
Syracuse University personnel involved in work processes that may require the use of respiratory protection should be well informed on the hazard, and the proper use and limitations of the respiratory protection that is provided.
In situations where respiratory protection is not required but an employee would like to wear a disposable N95 respirator, the employee may request to wear one voluntarily once several conditions are met. Please view the Voluntary Respiratory Use section.
