Laboratory operations involving chemicals present a great diversity of health and physical hazards. EHSS’ chemical safety programs and services are implemented to guide and assist laboratories in implementing necessary and best chemical safety practices and in complying with regulatory requirements. EHSS offers training, information, standard procedures, and consultation services to support lab personnel in recognizing and controlling chemical hazards and complying with OSHA’s Laboratory Standard (29 CFR 1910.1450) and other chemical specific regulations.
