Any laboratory using a Class 3B and/or Class 4 laser is required to have a hazard communication posting at each entrance to the laser use area. Please use the Hazard Sign Template [PDF].
The required warning information must be on the posted sign:
- Highest class laser in use
- Signal word (Danger)
- Operating wavelength(s)
- Eyewear filtering specifications (Optical Density, OD) for each operating wavelength. The Laser Institute of America Eye Protection Selection Calculator may be a useful tool in selecting the correct OD of safety eyewear.
