In accordance with state and federal air emission regulations, EHSS maintains an inventory of the University’s emission sources and corresponding potential emission estimates.
EHSS must be notified prior to the installation any new emission source or removal of an existing emission source to maintain an accurate inventory and ensure that all applicable compliance requirements are met. Notifications can be submitted via the Air Emission Source Inventory Update Form or by contacting EHSS.
Examples of an air emission source include, but are not limited to, the following:
- fume hood
- exhaust canopy
- exhausted laboratory equipment
- paint/spray booth
- emergency power generator
- boiler
- heater and furnace
- hot water heater
- kitchen/food preparation equipment
- art and wood working equipment
- laundry dryer
- parts washer
- cooling tower
- maintenance related equipment exhaust
