If a University employee would like to voluntarily wear a respirator, they must first notify Environmental Health and Safety Services. This notification can be made by submitting an EHSS Service Request and selecting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as the requested service.
EHSS will review the request and confirm use of a respirator is not required for the work the employee performs. EHSS will also coordinate with the employee to review OSHA’s mandatory health and safety information for voluntary use of respirators.
Voluntary respirator use at the University will be limited to disposable filtering facepiece respirators or dust masks.
