Eye and Face Protection Best Practices

Please refer to the following best practices when selecting and wearing appropriate eye and face protection.

  • Eye and Face protection should be ANSI Z87.1 or Z87.1+ certified. This certification is often written on the side of the eyewear and indicates the eyewear has been tested for impact protection.
  • Eye and Face protection must properly fit the face, with safety glasses being as close to the eye as possible, and safety goggles sealing to the face.
  • Eye and Face protection should be checked routinely for damage and replaced, if damaged.
  • Eye and Face protection should be cleaned routinely with warm soapy water.
  • Eye and Face protection should not be shared.
  • Prescription glasses are not suitable for eye protection. Prescription glasses should be worn under eye protection.
