Please refer to the following best practices when selecting and wearing appropriate hand protection.
- Refer to the chemical manufacturer Safety Data Sheet for glove selection recommendations.
- Refer to the glove manufacturer’s chemical resistance guide to verify glove selection is appropriate for the chemical hazard. Glove selection guides are available on the Ansell website and Kimberly-Clark website
- Disposable nitrile gloves are appropriate for incidental contact or splashes. If extended chemical contact is anticipated a thicker glove should be selected.
- Check gloves for rips or tears before use. Do not wear damaged gloves.
- Remove and replace disposable nitrile gloves immediately when contaminated.
- Do not wash or reuse disposable gloves.
- Remove gloves in a manner to prevent contamination. The correct disposable glove removal technique can be found on the CDC Website.
- Reusable gloves should be decontaminated before removal and re-use.
- Wash hands with soap and warm water after removing gloves.
