Permissible exposure limits (PELs) are established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and define the quantity or concentration limit of a hazardous chemical an employee can be exposed to in a workplace setting.
Laboratory personnel exposures to hazardous chemicals at the University must remain below the associated PEL’s. If there is a concern that laboratory personnel may be exceeding permissible exposure limits, contact EHSS at 315.443.4132 or by email (ehss@syr.edu) immediately.
